What is the best notebook/Laptop Computer?
I am buying a new computer for when I go back to school to get my Masters. Just wondering what is the best computer available. Also curious about the wireless part. That is going to be new to me.
If you want your computer to last more than a couple years, I say get a mac. Other computers can last that long, but not as likely. Some people get lucky.... actually the computer parts are the same in almost every kind of computer, it is the operating system that you need to look at. Microsoft has been perfecting windows since the 80's and apple has been perfecting the Macintosh operating systems since the 70's. They have had more time to fix errors. My husband has had his mac for 6 years now and has never had a problem. I have had mine for 2 years with no problems.
Some people get scared about certain programs not working. That is at times an issue but nothing big enough to forfeit quality. Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and Entourage all come in mac format and will transfer with no problems. I am in college now and do a ton of my work sending word documents to teachers. I have never had a problem.
I called Dell while searching for the right computer and all the customer service lady could tell me was that they had great customer service. My reply was, "I don't want to have to use customer service." With a mac, you most likely won't have to. Plus, there is a discussions page on the mac website that will answer most questions you have. it basically works just like yahoo answers.
It will work great for your schooling. My college right now is switching all of its computers to macs. That shows something. And the wireless is amazing. The greatest part is that you won't have to worry as much about viruses with a mac. They are much harder to hack into so you won't have to have all that crappy virus protection. Everyone else at my school has to download the school software to get online, but my husband and I took our computers in and as soon as the information technology guys saw that we had macs, they connected us without downloading the software...
